It's a myth that time heals. Time heals nothing. It's what we do with the time - the choices we make in the time. The people we surround ourselves with. The life we create and share. The love in our hearts and the hope in our minds, at any time, can heal, create, inspire and change almost anything... you just have to take the time to realize it. Look at yourself, and the faces of others... stop to see all the possibilities - open yourself up to this life and say,

"I'm not too busy."

Life Transitions & Personal Growth
Heather (she/her) is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and owner of Brave Choices, Inc. She has been providing counseling since 2010 and enjoys supporting individuals navigating trauma, disability, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the impact of systemic oppression.

Heather brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work as a disabled woman. She practices from a strengths-based, trauma-informed, disability-affirming, and systems-oriented perspective. Her approach is collaborative, anti-racist, and grounded in the belief that people are the experts in their own lives. She also practices from a body liberation and Health at Every Size® (HAES) framework, recognizing that healing is not defined by body size but by developing a compassionate relationship with ourselves.

Heather also has extensive experience supporting individuals living with disabilities, medical trauma, caregiver stress, religious and spiritual trauma, financial concerns, and major life transitions. She enjoys working with service dog handlers and understands the unique challenges that can accompany disability, healthcare systems, and advocacy.

As someone who has experienced divorce, Heather understands firsthand that the end of a relationship can bring profound grief, uncertainty, questions about identity, and opportunities for growth. She welcomes working with individuals navigating betrayal, separation, divorce, infidelity, or the difficult process of rebuilding trust in themselves and others. Whether you are deciding to stay, leave, or simply trying to make sense of what has happened, Heather offers a supportive, nonjudgmental space to process your experiences and move forward with intention.

Heather believes therapy should provide an affirming space to better understand yourself, navigate life's challenges, and build practical tools for lasting change. If you're ready to begin therapy, Heather would be honored to work alongside you. If she isn't the best fit for your needs, she'll do her best to help connect you with someone who is.
