At Brave Choices, Inc., it is our policy to provide a diagnosis to all clients for ethical, legal, and insurance purposes, as mandated by the "No Surprises Act." A formal diagnosis is determined after a comprehensive assessment, typically conducted within 1-5 sessions after commencing psychotherapy. However, if you choose not to receive a formal diagnosis, we will not update the GFE (Good Faith Estimate). Please be aware that you have the right to decline a diagnosis in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Below are some commonly used diagnosis codes at Brave Choices, Inc. Although this list is not exhaustive, please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns with your therapist.
Adjustment Disorder (F43.23)
Major Depressive Disorder (Depression) (F32.9)
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (Anxiety) (F41.1)
PTSD/Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (F43.10)
At Brave Choices, Inc., we acknowledge that every client's therapy journey is unique. The duration and frequency of your therapy sessions will be influenced by various factors, including your schedule, life circumstances, therapist availability, ongoing challenges, the nature of your specific concerns, and personal finances.
You and your therapist will continuously assess the appropriate frequency of therapy sessions, working collaboratively to determine when your goals have been achieved and if any changes are necessary. In general, research from the American Psychological Association suggests that 15 to 20 sessions are needed for 50 percent of patients to report symptom improvement. Sometimes, a longer treatment period (e.g., 20 to 30 sessions over six months) is preferred to achieve more comprehensive symptom relief and develop the necessary skills for maintaining progress.
Since everyone has unique counseling goals, the number of sessions required can vary. Developing a therapeutic relationship, identifying treatment goals, creating an action plan, and working towards achieving those goals all take time. Regardless of the number of sessions, we are committed to working together to meet your needs.
